This January recruitment period proves to be a time of intense speculation and possible major transfers. Numerous high-profile footballers find themselves linked with moves away from their present clubs. We examine some of the top names who could be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to reach the AFCON, this has left the forward available, indications are an important transfer is close. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a substantial release clause applicable for a two-week window at the start of the month. Recent developments indicate Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have turned their attention to other options, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has excel for Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool falling through. With his deal due to run out in the summer, this represents the club's last opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their skipper. Numerous elite clubs, including Manchester City and multiple European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. Yet, a winter departure is considered difficult, particularly given the manager's reliance on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

The Welsh winger has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Tottenham this term. Although being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has started just a small number of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the North London outfit would be open to a transfer for the right valuation, believed to be in the region of £40 million. Rúben Neves

This Portuguese midfielder might be poised for a comeback to the Premier League after a period in Saudi Arabia. Still only 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible bargain. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the player. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he is prepared to take a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and had surgery, a January exit looks highly likely. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible suitor, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

This prolific England striker has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his fading chances of being in the national squad. But, arranging a transfer presents significant hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged huge salary make any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as admirers.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkish forward is in excellent form for Juventus this season. As his existing contract nearing its end, many English clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are desperate to secure the youngster to a new long-term agreement but are in a race to retain one of the continent's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. This teenager is heavily tipped to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at approximately £22 million.
