Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners tables.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
