Approximately twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland woke up without power on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the area, producing strong winds reaching 109km/h.

Locals reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were attempting to repair power throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units working to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced energy failures after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations handled 598 emergency reports across the state, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Health officials cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the region.
